Description

23 September to 3 October · 11 days

Starts in: Port d’Andratx
Ends in: To be confirmed
Area: Cetacean Migration Corridor

The Cetacean Migration Corridor is a recently declared MPA that Alnitak was involved in. Here, monitoring the local wildlife and human activities is vital for correct management. We will be focusing on cetaceans but also sea turtles, with satellite transmitters on board in case we can catch and tag one.

This expedition will begin in Ibiza, and therefore involves a long and exciting crossing which will undoubtedly involve night navigation under the (hopefully) starry sky. Our expedition will end in Valencia, where we collaborate with many local entities, some who may join us on board at some stages.

Volunteers are vital to our work

Your share of 1100 Euros (calculated at 100 euros/day) covers living costs while on board plus supports the scientific programs. It also includes membership, and is tax-deductible.

Daily life

We will live and work on board RV Va de Bon Coeur, sharing research and sailing duties, as well as “house chores” such as cleaning and cooking. We rise early and make the most of each day, while keeping our floating home clean and everyone well fed and healthy
